Grade 10 – Science
About Course
This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of fundamental concepts in science. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical examples, students will develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Understand the nature of chemical reactions, acids and bases, metals and non-metals, and carbon compounds.
- Learn about life processes, reproduction, heredity, and the structure and function of the human eye.
- Understand electricity and magnetism, and their applications in real-life situations.
- Learn about the environment and its conservation.
The course will also include features such as challenger assignments, mind-maps, chapter summaries, gamified content, and real-life examples. For instance, in the chapter on “Acids, Bases, and Salts,” students will learn about the properties of acids and bases, their reactions, and their application in everyday life. In a gamified activity, students will create their own pH scale using natural indicators, such as cabbage juice, to test the acidity of different household items. Additionally, a real-life example of the application of acid-base concepts will be the process of neutralisation used in wastewater treatment plants to make water safe for reuse.
By the end of the course, students will have a comprehensive understanding of basic scientific principles, and the skills and knowledge necessary to apply them in real-life situations.
